James Jarvis
Biography
Baptized at Oyster Bay, Long Island. Served as 3rd lieutenant during the Revolutionary War.
Married to Amelia Broome, daughter of Samuel Broome, on July 24, 1781. He contracted to provide Fugio Cents of 1787. He owned a majority interest in the New Haven mint. The mint delivered about 15% of the required coinage. Congress voided the contract September 16, 1788. Most of the copper intended for the Fugios was used by Broome to strike lighter weight Connecticut cents.
