Jewett Williams Adams


Born at South Hero Island, Grand Isle County, Vermont. Moved to California in 1852. Employed in mining 1852 to 1857. Moved to Carson City, Nevada, about 1864. He became a successful cattle rancher. Married Emma Lee in 1878.

Elected Lieutenant Governor of Nevada and served 1874 to 1882. Elected Governor and served 1882 to 1886.

Adams served as Superintendent of the Carson City Mint May 20, 1894 through September 1898. He died in San Francisco.
