Louisa Catherine (Johnson) Adams
Biography
Born in London. (The only foreign born First Spouse) Married to John Quincy Adams on July 26, 1797. They had four children. She died in Washington, D.C.
Louisa appears on the “First Spouse” $10 gold coin released May 29, 2008, and corresponding bronze medal. The obverse was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Phebe Hemphill. Reverse was designed by Donna Weaver and sculpted by Charles Vickers.
