Paul Howard Manship
Biography
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Studied at the Art Students League, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the American Academy in Rome. Moved to New York in 1906 and to Rome in 1909. Served as a Red Cross volunteer in Italy during WWI. Married Isabel McIlwane in 1914. They had a son and three daughters.
Known for his sculpture of Prometheus at the skating rink in Rockefeller Center in New York City.
He received the J. Sanford Saltus Award.
He sculpted the Franklin D. Roosevelt inaugural medal and the John F. Kennedy inaugural medal.
