George Bernard Sargent

Biography

Born in Boston. Married to Mary Perin with ten children. Employed in banking with Cook and Sargent. Served as Surveyor General in Dubuque 1851 to 1853. Mayor of Davenport, Iowa, in 1857.

Sargent commissioned award medals for Iowa College (Julian SC-25). The medal was first issued in 1857.

He moved to Duluth in 1869 and died there.
