Ore H. Vacketta

Biography

Born in Westville, Illinois. Married to Barbara L. November 8, 1934. They have two children. Served in the U. S. Army and USAR 1943 to 1969, saw service in the Southwest Pacific area, retired as lieutenant colonel. Employed as a Ford dealer 1932 to 1982.

He began collecting about 1940. His extensive collection of transportation tokens was sold privately. He is a specialist in Illinois Trade Tokens, exonumia of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. He is an active member of the Lions Club, American Legion and collector of American Legion convention badges. He collects Illinois Centennial medals and is working on a book about them.

Author of Catalogue of Illinois Trade Tokens Comprising a Detailed Listing of Trade Tokens of Illinois issued in 1973 at $12.50 and again in 1983. He also wrote American Legion Convention Badges in 1985. Author of Commemoratives of Illinois published by TAMS in 1994.
