Born as Marilyn Ann Hauer in Cleveland, Ohio. Graduate of Van Dyke School of business. Married James Tiernan in 1951. They had three children. He died in 1970. Married to Leroy Van Allen in 1986.
Employed with Coin World 1962 to 1991. She was the assistant to "Collectors' Clearinghouse" editor James G. Johnson for 13 years and the editor of "Collectors' Clearinghouse" from 1978 through July 31, 1991.
She died in Sidney, Ohio.
