Fred Lovett Lake
Biography
Born in Boston, Massachusetts. Graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1947 and served on active duty 1952 to 1958. Married to Joan Lawton in 1977.
Employed in the hospitality industry. Owner of the Harborview Club on Cape Cod, the Old Red Mill in Wilmington, Vermont and the Hermitage at Mount Snow, Vermont.
Lake and his wife moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1989 and opened Function Associates for the sale of Numismatic Literature. Conducted mail-bid sales as Lake Books 2000 to 2016.
Lake was a member of Early American Coppers and the Numismatic Bibliomania Society. He served on the board for Florida United Numismatists (FUN) 1998 to 2016.
He died at the Bay Pines Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Petersburg.
