Joseph Saxton

Biography

Born at Huntington, Pennsylvania. He built a clock for the steeple of Independence Hall. He married Mary H. Abercrombie in 1850. 

He supervised construction of machinery for the U.S. Mint. While an employee at the second U.S. Mint, in October, 1839, he took a photograph of Philadelphia's Central High School from a window at the Mint. 

He died in Washington, D.C.
