Born in Chicago. Received B.A, from University of Arizona in 2011; M.S. from University of North Texas in 2013. Unmarried in 2021. Senior archaeologist with the Army Corps of Engineers after 2014.
He began collecting coins in 1993 after finding a 1920 nickel in a hardware store He specializes in contemporary counterfeit coins. Secretary of the Hillside Coin Club 2006-2007.Author with Kevin Flynn of The Authoritative Reference on Three Cent Silver Coins (2010), Author with Louis Scudder and Michael Sherrill of the Bust Dime Variety Identification Guide (2015). Author of Bad Metal: Copper and Nickel Circulating Contemporary Counterfeit United States Coins (2019). Author of Bad Metal: 3cS to 25c (2022).
