Born in Columbus, Ohio. He ran away from home as a teenager and found work as a newsboy in New York City. Operated a photography studio in San Diego. Married to Virginia with a son. Coin dealer. He was named a Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador in

1982. He died in San Diego.
