Lawrence J. Gentile Sr.
Biography
Born in New York. Married with three children. Served in U.S. Navy 1953 to 1959.
Employed as a florist. Coin buyer for Wideband Corp.
Active in promoting numismatics through Young Numismatists. He was named a Numismatic News Numismatic Ambassador in 1982. Received the ANA Glenn Smedley Memorial Award in 1997, Medal of Merit in 1998 and Farran Zerbe Award in 2006.
He died in a hospital in Bronx, New York. In 2009 the ANA changed the name of the Adult Advisor of the Year Award to the Lawrence J. Gentile Sr. Award for Outstanding Adult Advisor.
