Federal Coin Exchange

Gengerke: "Federal Coin Exchange" until August 1961, when the operation was split, with Michael Kolman operating "Federal Brand Enterprises" (and the auctions), and Ed Kolman operating the downtown store, still named the Federal Coin Exchange. In 1976 Ed Kolman retired, selling the Federal Coin Exchange to Ted Martowitz and Thomas P. Squires (previously with Bob Westfall). The 9/16/77 sale was numbered 102, following sale #101 by Squires before he joined Federal Coin Exchange. This firm often had two (or even three) separate convention sales, weeks or months apart, bound in one volume. In at least one instance the second part is also known as a separate, stand-alone volume. There is no connection to the "Federal Coin Exchange" operated by Henry L. Writesel in Columbus, Ohio in the 1930's.
