American Journal of Numismatics, Vols. 1-5

(1866)

Periodical Summary

The American Journal of Numismatics (Series One), published from 1866 to 1924 by the American Numismatic Society (originally the American Numismatic and Archaeological Society), acted as the standard bearer of American numismatics for many years. Although later issues are dominated by foreign and ancient content, the early and middle part of the run features American information found nowhere else.

Note: The Levick plate of 1793 large cents that was originally published in the April 1869 issue (vol. 3, no. 12) was bound into this copy at the beginning of volume 3 (May 1868 issue, vol. 3, no. 1).
