Reed III, Fred
Born in Syracuse, New York. Graduate of Oklahoma State University. He served in the U. S, Army 1970 to 1972. Married to Pat DeVaney with a son and a daughter.
Joined staff of Coin World August 4, 1975. Author of the "Numis-mystery" series published in Coin World February 4, 1976, through June 15, 1977. He left Coin World in 1981. Author of Civil War Encased Stamps: The Issuers and Their Times published in 1995. Author of Show Me the Money: The Standard Catalog of Motion Picture, TV, Stage and Advertising Prop Money (2005).
Employed with Probe Ministries Industrial after 1981. Writer/editor in the baseball card field. Vice President with Becket Publications. Collector of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia. Editor of Paper Money 1999 to 2004. Editor and published or TAMS journal.
Author of “The Week that Was” column in Coin World after January 3, 2005. Author of "Spare Change" after 2013. Author of Abraham Lincoln The Image of his Greatness (2009).
He was sidelined by illness in December 2013 and dropped his writing and editing responsibilities. In 2015 he was inducted into the SPMC Hall of Fame.
