    U.S. Pattern Coins Auction Prices Realized

    A dataset built by Bill Rau, covering through 2001. Includes historic auction prices realized and a cross-listing of patterns by A-W, Judd, and Pollock numbers. Also present is an inventory of the Connecticut State Library pattern collection.     Tab 1: Pollock to Judd
    This tab contains a general list of the patterns included in Pollock and Judd.  The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, Taxay number, Davis number, year struck, denomination, metal, Pollock rarity, Judd rarity, A-W rarity, and whether Bill Rau had personally owned an example at the time of this list’s creation.


    Tab 2: 90s Auctions
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned in the 1990s, in order by Pollock and Judd number.  The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, winning bid, auctioneer, auction date, certification, lot number, and total price with buyers fee.  Also included for many listings is the consignor (e.g. “Benson Collection”).  There are 12,947 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 3: 70-89 Auctions
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned from 1970-1989, in order by Pollock and Judd number.  The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, winning bid, auctioneer, auction date, certification, lot number, and total price with buyers fee.  Also included for many listings is the consignor (e.g. “Norweb Collection”).  There are 16,527 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 4: 50-69 Auctions
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned from 1950-1969, in order by Pollock and Judd number. The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, winning bid, auctioneer, auction date, lot number, and total price with buyers fee.  Also included for many listings is the consignor (e.g. “Charles Jay Collection”).  There are 11,826 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 5: Pre 50 Auctions
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned from 1900-1950, in order by Pollock and Judd number. The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, winning bid, auctioneer, auction date, lot number, and total price with buyers fee.  Also included for many listings is the consignor (e.g. “George M. Parsons”).  There are 17,418 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 6: 1800s Auctions
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned from 1859-1899, in order by Pollock and Judd number. The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, winning bid, auctioneer, auction date, lot number, and total price with buyers fee.  Also included for many listings is the consignor (e.g. “John Campbell”).  There are 11,436 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 7: Farouk
    This tab contains a list of patterns owned by King Farouk of Egypt and auctioned by Sotheby’s in 1954, in order by Pollock and Judd number. The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, auctioneer, auction date, lot number.  For some listings, the winning bid and total price with buyers fee is included. There are 1876 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 8: Auction Catalogs
    This tab contains an incomplete list of American numismatic auction catalogs from 1851 to 2002, with information for some listings on how many patterns were sold in that sale.  Other information provided for each sale listed includes: auction date, auctioneer, consignor, and a citation for where Bill Rau verified the sale.


    Tab 9: Judd
    This tab should be considered redundant to Tab 1.


    Tab 10: Price Lists
    This tab contains a list of patterns auctioned via price list from the late 1800s to 2002, in order by Pollock and Judd number.  The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, Pollock rarity, asking price, seller, and date offered.  For some listings, the consignor is included.  There are 10,437 lots listed, including sets.


    Tab 11: FPL
    This tab contains an incomplete list of American numismatic fixed price lists from 1876 to 2002, with information for some listings on how many patterns were sold in that sale.  Other information provided for each sale listed includes: date offered, seller, name of the list, consignor, and a citation for where Bill Rau verified the sale.


    Tab 12: Private Collections
    This tab contains an inventory of the Connecticut State Library pattern collection as of 1975, in order by Pollock and Judd number.  The following information is provided for each pattern listed: Pollock number, Judd number, A-W number, year struck, denomination, metal, grade, and Pollock rarity.  There are 385 pieces listed.
