McCarter Roll: The McCarter Medal for Resuscitation was established by Thomas N. McCarter, president of the Public Service Corporation of New Jersey to be awarded to employees of Gas Companies who saved the lives of those who became victims of gas asphyxiation. The Schafer Prone Pressure Method of resuscitation had to be used. The American Gas Association announced the McCarter Medal in April, 1924 and McCarter provided a fund to endow the award in September, 1924.
