Ochavo

A copper coin of Spain, the half of the Quarto (q.v.). It dates from the beginning of the sixteenth century and received its name from being valued at one eighth of the Real. It was also issued during the French occupation of Barcelona and Catalonia (1808-1814). See Octavo
