One officially continued after the actual year. Examples include the Massachusetts silver coins, which bore the date 1652 for 30 years; various state coppers which bore the date 1787 until July 1789; and the 1964-65 federal coins pursuant to Section 204, Coinage Act of July 23, 1965.
