Abridor
Spanish: Die sinker. A mint craftsman who makes dies and the punches used to create dies. Given the short lifetime of hand-hammered dies of the early Spanish colonial period it can be assumed that the colonial diesinkers were constantly punching out new dies to replace those worn or fractured by hundreds of heavy blows. The term tallador is also used. 2. Centuries ago abridor was also the term for a silversmith.
