[back]FIRST UNITED STATES MINT. Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia The Act of April 2, 1792 provided for the establishment of the first United States Mint. These buildings were the birthplace of our National Coinage. The first U.S. Mint also had the distinction of being the first public building erected by an Act of Congress under the personal supervision of President Washington. This modern reproduction of the famous picture "Ye Olde Mint", originally painted by Edwin Lamasure in 1914, was recreated by the brush of Artist Natalie Hause, from which this print was made. |
