Description [back] THE UNITED STATES MINT, PHILADELPHIA, PA. This Mint, the largest in the world, was designed for a total production capacity of 2 billion coins per day. The U.S. Mint was established by an Act of Congress on April 2, 1792. The first Mint,now demolished, was at Seventh and Arch St. This is the fourth Mint building in Philadelphia.
