Description | 1806 50C Knob 6, Small Stars, O-107a, T-3, High R.4, AU55 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/3. Die crumble at the edge above LI of LIBERTY is the sole sign of the late die state on the obverse, while the reverse is in its most advanced state with rim crumbling into the dentils below the left claw and stem. A faint die crack at MERI confirms the die stage. O-107a is almost always weak at the upper-right field stars, clouds, and O in OF as demonstrated by the present coin. The strike is otherwise crisp, with biscuit-brown toning at the centers and gunmetal-blue accents at the margins. Mint luster shines through the toning with glints of attractive iridescence. A scarce Knob-6, Small Stars type, and always in demand. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp and Coin Co.; Eric P.
