Description | 1787 NJERSY New Jersey Copper, No Sprig Above Plow, Maris 38-c, W-5190, R.3, VF25 NGC. Die alignment: 180?. The obverse of Maris 38-c has the smallest horse's head in the entire New Jersey series, and the reverse has the only shield with seven pales (the groups of vertical lines within). This piece exhibits good obverse detail and original surfaces. A dark spot is noted at the first A of C?SAREA. Struck from a very late state of the reverse die, with much sinking and bulging.
