Description | 1829 H10C V-13, LM-4, R.3, MS62 NGC. CAC. Quite scarce in Uncirculated condition, the LM-4 variety is one of 18 die marriages required to strike more than 1.2 million pieces in the first year of the Capped Bust motif on half dimes. Soft mint luster glows beneath a rich mantle of peach-gold and cerulean-blue toning. The coin is sharply struck except at the eagle's head and scroll above. A glass reveals strike doubling at the olive leaves, denomination, and AMERICA. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Heritage Newman IX, November 2017, lot 15413, realized $690.
