1913 5C Type Two PR66 NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The second design type from 1913 features a thin, straight line that the bison stands on. There were 1,514 Type Two proofs struck, a considerable mintage in the context of the matte proof series, but undoubtedly many were melted as unsold at year's end, making this the second scarcest issue in the series. This is a razor-sharp example that displays dusky gray-rose toning. Light magnification reveals strong underlying mint luster, and we do not see any traces of carbon spotting. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $3.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
