1829 H10C MS65 NGC. V-3, LM-2, R.1. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The LM-2 die pair was utilized for both proof and business strike half dimes in 1829, and this Gem, designated Mint State by NGC, was noted as a proof on the accompanying envelope. This early die state piece has clash marks but no die cracks. Lightly mirrored fields are evident beneath lovely, original blue-gray and gold toning. The strike is stronger than usual and suggestive of a proof impression. Census: 37 in 65, 30 finer (10/13) for all 1829 varieties. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $7.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
