1834 10C Large 4 MS65+ NGC. CAC. JR-5, R.1. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The large 4 in the date shows a broken crossbar and the arrow shaft extends through the middle talon on the reverse, identifying the JR-5 variety. The JR-5 is easily located in VF20 and finer grades, but it is very rare above the Gem level. This high-end Gem exhibits well-detailed design elements and ample mint luster, under attractive shades of cerulean-blue and golden-tan patina. Census: 20 in 65 (1 in 65+), 12 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $5.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
