1836 10C MS62+ NGC. CAC. JR-1, R.3. There is a Fancy 8 in the date and the scroll ends under the center of the left leg of M in AMERICA, identifying the JR-1 Variety. The JR-1 is somewhat scarce, but examples in VF or better condition can be located with patience. However, Mint State specimens are challenging to obtain. This well-detailed specimen retains most of its original mint luster, under a patina of champagne-gold, lavender, and slate-gray. A few minor contact marks do little to detract from the strong visual appeal. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
