1841 10C MS65 NGC. Fortin-105, R.4. This die pairing shows repunching below 841 in the date, and the reverse displays die rust around the ME in DIME and UNI in UNITED. This is a scarcer variety, especially in high grades. Unlike many 1841 dimes, this Gem shows relatively strong detail at Liberty's head and the bow knot. The remaining devices are also well-struck. Greenish-tan and lavender toning rest on the lustrous surfaces that are devoid of mentionable marks. Census for all 1841 dime varieties: 9 in 65 (1 in 65+), 7 finer (10/13); this variety is undoubtedly much rarer and this may be the finest known. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
