Description 1852 10C MS64+ NGC. CAC. A coin with a strong degree of eye appeal, this high-end, near-Gem exhibits largely silver fields, with the devices displaying attractive gold color. Tiny flyspecks of color include yellow-brown, cherry-red, and olive-green. Several thin wispy die cracks are present on the reverse along with a cud appearing near 11 o'clock on the rim. The silver coins of the early 1850s are much rarer than their mintages indicate; their silver content exceeded face value, resulting in large numbers being melted. Census: 22 in 64 (1 in 64+), 15 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $1,410.00 . Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.
