1842-O 25C Small Date XF40 NGC. The 1842-O Small Date is a rare issue regardless of grade, and virtually unknown in Mint State. This superlative XF example offers concentric rainbow toning on the obverse, while the reverse shows a silver center and amber-gold rims. This is a sharply struck example, free of singular marks. Even low-grade examples show the small die lump on the reverse, near the corner of a dentil between the leftmost pair olive leaves. Census: 2 in 40, 3 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P.
