1847 25C Misplaced Date MS65+ NGC. Briggs 3-C, FS-301. CAC. The 1847 quarter issue in Mint State is far more elusive than many collectors realize. On this MS65+ example of the FS-301, the bottom loop of a misplaced 8 pokes out from the bottom of Liberty's rock, just left of the final 8. The reverse shows small die cracks from U(NITED) to the olive leaves and joining TE(S). This is a beautiful Gem with dappled olive-green, gold, and ochre on the obverse, deep russet-gold with blue accents on the reverse. The strike is sharp throughout, and eye appeal abounds. For the date, Census: 4 in 65 (1 in 65+), 0 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
