1850 25C Misplaced Date MS65 S NGC. Briggs 1-A, FS-301. The continuing overvaluation of silver coinage during the California Gold Rush made the 1850 Philadelphia Seated quarter issue, along with the 1851, 1852, and 1853/53 No Arrows, melt rarities. This lovely Gem example shows a boldly misplaced date, the bottom of an errant 1 projecting from the extreme rim outside the dentilation, beneath the final 1.
