1877-S 25C Over Horizontal S MS62 NGC. CAC. Briggs 4-D, FS-501. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This is a lovely example of one of the most avidly collected varieties of the series and commands a large premium. The mintmark was originally punched in horizontally, then overstruck with a vertical S. The lustrous surfaces of this well-struck coin display rich toning in hues of frosty golden-yellow, blue-green, and plum. Census: 4 in 62, 24 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R.
