1869 25C PR67 S Cameo NGC. Briggs 2-B, Doubled Die Obverse. This PR67 S Cameo is another notable conditional rarity from the Newman Collection Seated quarter proofs from the 1860s. Its incredible eye appeal is virtually on a par with its higher-grade counterparts. The coloration and overall fabric of this coin are consistent with its siblings from the 1860s. A noticeable pair of raised vertical marks above Liberty's head appear to be Mint-made, possibly the start of a planchet lamination. The NGC Star designation denotes exceptional eye appeal, an assessment with which we wholeheartedly concur. The strike is full throughout both sides. The proof obverse is a doubled die, the doubling most obvious on the bottom shield lines and doubled LIBERTY. Census: 3 in 67 (3 in 67 S), 0 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
