Service Catalog # 85576
Denomination 25C
Description 1875 25C PR67+ S Cameo NGC. CAC. A nominal mintage of 700 proof Seated Liberty quarters was achieved in 1875 and this coin is probably the second-finest survivor. An expansive ring of untoned silver in the centers of each side, surrounded by rich even shades of cobalt-blue and golden-brown toning, lends Liberty a nice cameo appearance, as do the mirrored fields and frosted devices. NGC and CAC, combined, bestowed a lot of well-deserved superlatives on this fully struck Superb Gem proof coin. Prospective buyers, however, had better be ready with their most forthright bids, as it is conceivable that some of these coins could disappear from the marketplace for another 70 years. Census: 2 in 67 (1 in 67 S, 1 in 67+ S), 1 finer (10/13). Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $16,450.00 . Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions, ha.com.
