1908-O 25C MS66 NGC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. More than 5.7 million quarters were struck in the New Orleans mint in 1908, but the story remained the same in the waning days of this branch mint as it had for decades previously: Coinage was needed in the local channels of commerce, and few pieces were set aside in Uncirculated condition. This is a high-grade exception. The mint luster is thick and softly frosted, covered with deep, original layers of blue-gray and faint traces of reddish patina. Better struck than most New Orleans products. Census: 5 in 66 (1 in 66+), 2 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $2.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
