1894 25C PR68 NGC. The 1894 proof Barber quarter claims a mintage of 972 pieces, fairly generous for a proof issue of that era. The 1894 enjoys a fairly high survival rate, and type collectors seeking a proof example of the design are especially fond of this date. The coin offered here is an incredible PR68 specimen, with vivid shades of champagne-gold and cerulean-blue toning on the obverse and some highlights of lavender on the reverse. The design elements exhibit pinpoint definition throughout and close inspection with a loupe reveals no mentionable surface flaws. Overall eye appeal is tremendous. Census: 5 in 68, 0 finer (10/13).
