1858 25C MS67 S NGC. CAC. The 1858 Seated quarter comes from a large production exceeding 7.3 million coins. NGC has nonetheless certified only four submissions at the Superb Gem level, and only the Newman Collection example has garnered the added Star designation for exceptional eye appeal (10/13). One of the many pleasures of cataloging these coins is their outstanding originality. Lovers of coins with original patina and unaltered surfaces will have a field day with the Newman collection. This piece shows concentric pastel purple, pink, and gold on the obverse; the reverse offers cobalt-blue at the rims and amber-russet in the centers. The strike verges on full, save for a couple of star centers. Another exceptional coin for type or complete-set purposes. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
