1808 50C MS65+ NGC. O-102a, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. From the same miraculous nest as the previous 1807 O-114 and 1808/7, this high-end Gem is sharply detailed throughout. The surfaces radiate vibrant mint luster and the brilliant centers are framed by vivid shades of lavender and golden-brown toning. More delightful album toning. The surfaces are pristine, with no signs of handling or contact with other coins. Need we add that the eye appeal is outstanding? Stephen Herrman's survey lists a single appearance of an O-102a in MS66 and four in MS65. This coin is tied for second place in the Condition Census for the variety and may hold that position by itself. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $5.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
