1814 50C E Over A XF45 NGC. CAC. O-108a, R.1. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The E in STATES was cut over an errant A, identifying the O-108 variety. Extensive die cracks and clash marks, together with softness at the eagle's head and left wing, mark the later O-108a die state. Clash marks from the banner and wing are plainly visible above the date and in the right obverse field. Mint luster clings to the lightly worn devices. Shades of bluish-gray and golden-brown patina blanket the pleasing surfaces. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $1.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
