1819/8 50C Large 9 MS64 NGC. CAC. O-102, R.2. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. Al Overton listed six overdate varieties for 1819, the most for any year in the series. Five unused obverse dies from 1818 had the final digit over-punched with a 9. The O-102 and O-103 have a common obverse. This sharply detailed Choice example exhibits full if not vibrant mint luster and exceptional eye appeal. The silver centers yield to vivid violet shades at the borders (indicia of album storage) with no mentionable signs of contact. Census: 12 in 64, 9 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $3.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
