1827 50C Square Base 2 MS62 NGC. CAC. O-134, R.4. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This well-detailed MS62 example shows just a touch of softness on some stars and the eagle's claws. The pleasing surfaces are naturally toned in shades of dove-gray and golden-brown, with traces of mint luster underneath. Stephen Herrman's current list of auction appearances identifies two examples of the 1827 O-134 in MS63, allowing this example to pursue its claim to the Condition Census. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $1.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
