Description 1843 50C MS61 NGC. WB-101. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This is one of the most common dates in the Liberty Seated half dollar series but not in this grade (nor with this pedigree). The surfaces display attractive silvery gray toning with golden highlights. The obverse has mint made planchet roller lines (the diagonal lines) across Liberty's torso and on the coin's lower right. There are a few tiny marks on the coin, consistent with the grade. Cracked dies are typical for this date and this coin is no exception. The reverse has a die crack from the rim at 2 o'clock through the (A)M(ERICA) O(F) to the eagle's right facing wing; another from the rim at 11 o'clock through the (ST)A(TES) to the eagle's left wing. Lightly and brightly toned overall with silver-green, yellow, and lemon shadings. Great underlying luster with fewer abrasions than expected for the grade. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $6.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $1,351.25 .
