1843 50C MS64 NGC. WB-101. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. This is an attractive Mint State 1843 half dollar with a mere three examples grading higher at NGC (9/13). Although it is one of the most frequently encountered No Motto issues among Seated Liberty halves, it is uncommon in mint condition. This piece exhibits silvery gray toning with golden-rose highlights. The obverse shows a few Mint-made roller marks (diagonal lines) on the coin's lower right. There are no readily discernible contact marks or abrasions. Usually seen with die cracks, this piece is similarly cracked to the left of the date as is the MS67 S example of this issue. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $6.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
