1849-O 50C MS61 NGC. WB-101, Die State WB-2, R.3. This high-mintage O-mint half dollar has remarkable differentiation in the various die states. This piece shows a prominent die scratch on the left side of the obverse shield, and a small lump is present on the reverse behind the arrow feathers. Deep gray patina is interrupted by underlying shadings of red and golden. The strike is somewhat irregular, as one would expect of an O-mint product. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
