1858 50C PR65 NGC. WB-101. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. An estimated mintage of 300 proof Seated Liberty half dollars was accomplished in 1858, the first year of the Mint's commercial proof set offerings. This delightful Gem exhibits Walter Breen's diagnostic area of unfinished polish between Liberty's chin and shoulder. The design elements are well-detailed and the fields are deeply mirrored, with brilliant silver centers highlighted by spectacular shades of cobalt-blue and sea-green toning at the rims. Census: 8 in 65 (1 in 65+), 5 finer (10/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $25.00; Eric P.
