1878 50C PR67 Cameo NGC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. A fair number of the 800 Proof Seated half dollars minted in 1878 have survived to satisfy collector demand. Examples in the lofty numerical grade of PR67 Cameo, however, are extremely elusive. NGC has seen just four such coins and a PR68 non-Cameo finer, and PCGS has graded no Superb Gem proofs in any finish (9/13). Both sides display pronounced white-on-black contrast, unimpeded by wisps of gold toning concentrated at the borders. This piece exhibits breathtaking eye appeal. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R.
