1891 50C PR66+ S Cameo NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The last-year proof Seated half production total for the long-running series, which debuted in 1839, was a nominal 600 coins, but the number of circulation strikes, at 200,000 pieces, was a vast increase over the totals of the previous decade. This piece garners the NGC Star designation for exceptional eye appeal. It is a beautifully toned Premium Gem with pastel shades of gold, blue, and lavender on the obverse. The reverse shows a larger area of silver-white, with frosted devices in the center accented by golden rim toning. Census: 2 in 66 (1 in 66+ S) Cameo, 4 finer (9/13). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $5.00; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
